On Feb. 15th the Hershey Indivisible Team will present Dr. Douglas Leslie, director of the Penn State Center for Applied Studies in Health Economics to share how health insurance works and changes to the laws could mean for us. Health Insurance 101 will give a fresh look at key concepts like the importance of an insurance pool, essential benefits, and Medicaid expansion.
“Having health insurance is important,” Leslie contends. “The Affordable Care Act has significantly improved access to healthcare.” Key issues will cover why having helath insurance is important, why everyone needs to pay into the system for it to work and how the ACA has significantly improved access to health insurance.
Dr. Leslie has worked extensively with large administrative claims databases, including those from Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs and private health insurers.
