Hear here! Candidates Forum: Bowman
On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, the Hershey Indivisible Team will present a Candidates Forum for the Dauphin County Commissioners. The candidates for the November election, Diane Bowman, George P. Hartwick III, and Mike Pries will be allowed to give an opening statement before they are asked to answer questions by moderator, Susan Cort, Chair of the Derry Township Board of Supervisors. County residents will be asked to submit questions in advance of the meeting but the candidates will not have the questions in advance of the meeting. Questions will also be accepted after the preplanned questions are exhausted.
The Dauphin County Board of Commissioners is the legislative and administrative body of our county government. The commissioners oversee a variety of complex and challenging services. Together they have governing oversight of all county agencies and employ 1,700 employees including County Courts, Human Services (Area Agency on Aging, Children and Youth, Drug and Alcohol Services, Mental Health /Autism /Developmental Programs) and Support Services (Budget and Finance, Community and Economic Development, Conservation District, County Planning Commission, Elections and Voter Registration, Information Technology, Dauphin County Library System, Parks and Recreation, Prison, Property and Taxes, Solid Waste Management and Recycling), to name just a few. The Board meets weekly to transact the county’s business. Citizens are welcome to attend the meetings. Each commissioner is elected to a four-year term.
